Windmill Water Pumping

This is the classic farm-style windmill water pump.  I really like that old farm look, so I'd like to have one some day for that.  However, for water I'll probably go with an economical, reliable, efficient solar pump and cistern-style storage system.

Cost:  These windmills can be pretty expensive to purchase - even used - and also a hassle to transport.  I've seen the gearheads alone go for well over $5000.  I did find a semi-local guy that buys and sells used units complete (gearhead and tower) for $1500-$2500 and will deliver within a reasonably distance.  If I do decide to buy one, I'll include all involved costs once I have it set up and let you know how much work it was to install.
