Sealcoating Blockwork

Since I decided to earth berm the entire block garage, I needed to have a vapor barrier.  I was told that roof & foundation sealer (roofing tar) was the least expensive, most effective, and easiest route to take.  It's a dirty job, so if you do this, wear a hat and long-sleeved t-shirt, neither of which you ever want or need to wear again.  Be generous with this stuff for a couple reasons. First, the thicker you lay it on, the better seal you'll get as it penetrates the porous block. Second, it's harder to spread thin and takes considerably more time.

Cost:  5-gallon buckets of this sealcoat cover about 250 square feet.  I needed roughly 4 buckets at $16.00 each.  It was a one day job for me (alone) on my 48' x 32' x 8' block building.
